A short clip from Microsoft's 1995 Judgement Day event in which Bill Gates is inserted into Doom as a promo for Windows 95 and DirectX gaming. It was never publicly released at the time.
Cited mostly as a retro-tech curiosity about Microsoft's push into PC gaming, and sometimes as a joke.

> While I still have you, did you know that Bill Gates once digitally superimposed himself into DOOM to promote Windows 95? No, no I hadn't. ▶ this video Different era.
Microsoft even ported Doom to Windows 95, though it could also run the DOS version. Bill Gates even appeared in the game in a DirectX promotional video. ▶ this video
>You can go to reddit right now and find a video of some right wing whacko shooting someone to death on the front page. when I was growing up it wasn't just right-wing whackos glorying violence, it was Bill Gates himself dressed up in a trench coat advocating to 'clean up the neighbourhood' ▶ this video You may be underestimating the weirdness of the internet and the culture around it in the 90s, reddit looks harmless compared to what I saw when I was young when kids on the schoolyard were talking about rotten com
Surely you can't mention this without the Bill Gates "Windows 95 will revolutionize PC gaming" video. ▶ this video
