A VICE report from 2011 in which Suroosh Alvi revisits the gun markets in Pakistan's tribal areas, a stronghold of the Taliban. It shows weapons being made and sold by hand and a country described as a powder keg.
HN uses it as a visual reference for hand-built firearms and craft gunsmithing, especially in threads on 3D-printed and home-made guns.

VICE video from 2011 on the same gun markets of Pakistan, I started following VICE after I saw that video. ▶ this video
Interesting! There are videos: ▶ this video link Of course firearms were made in pre-industrial times, and it's fascinating to see how: (just how do you chamber a gun accurately by hand?) link But how would a technologically savvy first world person do it? These days you can buy a "gunsmithing" lathe for your garage workshop. Check out this video by Shiraz Balolia, CEO of Grizzly Industrial (they sell Chinese made industrial equipment to home shop machinists): link I was going to link to Joe Pieczynski's excellent machining videos on how to make an AR-15, but it looks like there are new YouTube guidelines: link In any case, the information is widely available (and check out his other videos if you want improve your machining skills).
Don't even need a CNC machine (or any hi tech device) to build lethal automatic weapons: ▶ this video Craftsmanship, experience and raw materials only are needed.
